Friends,

Hello! This is my first newsletter article and I am happy to be here. My name is Evangeline Weiss and I am a consultant working around the world on collective liberation, gender justice and anti-racism. While many people at MCC have had a chance to interact with me at the Creating Change conference or in a recent MCC DEI training, some of you may not know me. I’ve been working with the denomination for a few years now to support a deeper consideration of antiracism and collective liberation.

Sometimes, we hear that DEI is “an American thing” and I am here to say absolutely not! There are activists and churches all over the world working to eradicate settler colonialism and racism from their communities and churches. Just a tiny glimpse at the Global Sumud Flotilla and protective services this past few weeks should be a sign to you that the world is united in a desire to help Gaza.

As a matter of fact, we can learn from the efforts our cousins are leading from South Africa to Brazil. Below is a small sample of this work:
