On December 5, the MCC Baton Rouge in LA, USA proved that fellowship and service go hand-in-hand. For their latest community outing, they headed to Splash Nightclub for a special night of fun with a powerful purpose: the “Deck the Dance Floor” Toy Drive.

Sharing Joy Beyond Our Walls

Clad in MCC church shirts, members arrived with arms full of unwrapped toys to support Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.

The holiday season is a time for home and family, but for many children undergoing long-term inpatient treatment, Christmas is spent in a hospital room. The goal was simple: to bring a spark of holiday magic to these brave young people and remind them that their community is thinking of them.

A Win-Win for the Community

The evening was a beautiful example of how small acts of kindness can create a “ripple effect” of joy:

• For the Children: Every donated toy goes directly to a child admitted for long-term care, making their stay a little brighter.
• For our Church: MCCers of Baton Rouge enjoyed a wonderful evening of bonding and laughter.
• A Special Treat: As a thank you for the community’s generosity, each gift donated provided free admission to the venue, making it easier for everyone to participate in the giving.

Why We Give

MCCers in Baton Rouge believe in “interrogating our faith and putting it into action.” Stepping out into the city to support the local hospital is just one way to live out MCC’s mission of love and inclusion.

It was truly a blessing to enjoy such a great evening together while giving back to those who need it most. Thank you to everyone who came out, wore their colors, and donated!
