After more than half a century of dedicated service, a monumental chapter in the history of the Metropolitan Community Church came to a close. SunCoast MCC in Venice, FL, USA, announced the retirement of the Rev. Elder Dr. Nancy Wilson, marking the conclusion of an extraordinary 55-year journey in ministry. To honor her life-long commitment and the profound impact she made on her community, SunCoast MCC invited friends, congregants, and well-wishers to a weekend of celebration and reflection in Venice, Florida.
The community gathered for two primary events to send Rev. Nancy into her well-deserved retirement, both hosted at SunCoast Metropolitan Community Church on East Venice Avenue. The celebration began with a retirement party on Saturday, May 23rd, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where guests enjoyed light hors d’oeuvres while sharing memories of Rev. Nancy’s historic career. This was followed by her final worship service on Sunday, May 24th, at 10:00 AM, after which a dedicated time for refreshments and social connection was held to celebrate her final official appearance in the pulpit.
The community joined together to celebrate the incredible legacy of Rev. Elder Dr. Nancy Wilson and wished her the very best in this next chapter of her life.
