In a beautiful display of spiritual solidarity, Rev. Elder Elaine Saralegui of the Metropolitan Community Church recently joined the Sangha at Templo Zen Kosenshinji, Cuba to celebrate Vesak. This sacred day, which honors the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha, was marked by a Sesshin (intensive meditation) guided by Master Michel Tai Hei and Venerable Mārājina.

The event served as a powerful intersection of faith traditions, bringing together Pastor Elaine, the Sangha, and members of Theravada Cuba. This gathering highlighted the MCC’s commitment to radical inclusion and building bridges across diverse spiritual landscapes.

Through the presence of Pastor Elaine Saralegui and the hospitality of Templo Zen Kosenshinji, this Vesak celebration reminded all that when different traditions seek the “morning star” together, the light of peace shines more brightly for everyone.
