The much-awaited podcast, When We All Get to Heaven, a 10-episode podcast series that tells the story of how MCC San Francisco in CA, USA, as one of the first of the very few LGBT+ affirming churches in the 80’s, faced the personal, social, and political trials of the AIDS epidemic, including the deaths of hundreds of its members.

This podcast is produced and co-created by Eureka Street Productions, a collective of Lynne Gerber, Siri Colom, and Ariana Nedelman. Lynne Gerber is also the host. She is an independent scholar who writes about religious responses to HIV/AIDS in 1980s and 90s San Francisco. She has held research and teaching positions at Harvard Divinity School and the University of California at Berkeley.

“Almost 40 years ago, two San Francisco churches developed a partnership responding to AIDS, the predominantly Black Double Rock Baptist Church in Hunter’s Point, and the largely gay and white MCC San Francisco in the Castro neighborhood,” Jim Mitulski shared on his post on Facebook.

“We had a parishioner in common, the late Stephen Clover, my classmate and friend from Pacific School of Religion I invited my late friend Linda Rochelle from Double Rock to preach on Gay Pride Sunday, knowing we disagreed about homosexuality but that we were both committed to advocacy and care for People with AIDS, which affected both churches.”
