October 8, 1940 – September 15, 2025 – Rev. Paul Evans devoted 42 years of his life to Christian service. He initially served as a Presbyterian pastor, but later found his calling with MCC. During his 20 years as pastor of MCC-Topeka in Kansas (1987-2007) he established the church as a vibrant community, where many found healing and grew into a healthy relationship with God.

Rev. Paul was known for his loving pastoral care, the effectiveness of his message, and his amazing musical talent. He was active in the Topeka community as an out-gay Christian and graciously accepted many speaker’s bureau requests; he’s remembered for his confident and Christ-like response in the face of hostility. Rev. Paul respected people of all faiths; he had a profound connection with the local synagogue and often served as their organist.

Rev. Paul is survived by his husband Jonathan Loppnow and two sons, David and Jon, and three grandchildren.
