Terry (Luton) Holt, 90, of California, Vegas, Florida, NM and KC, USA, went to be with the Lord Jan 2, 2026. He passed peacefully at his home with family.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at 12 noon. Following the service, there will be a potluck gathering at Spirit of Hope Metropolitan Community Church, 3801 Wyandotte Street , Kansas City, MO 64111. Guests are invited to bring a dish and come dressed comfortably. Pastor Harlin Harper, Terry’s hospice Pastor will be the Officiant.
Terry was born Nov 6, 1935. He served his country in the Navy and the Air Force.
“Terry was also a faithful MCC member for 57 years. I last spoke to him seven weeks ago” said Rev. Troy Perry, founder and retired moderator of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. “He was one of the most active lay person in our movement. He attended the first General conference as one of the group of elected delegates from the Metropolitan Community Church of Los Angeles. Terry became a member of the Board of Directors of not only the LA church, but other MCC‘s in the cities that he moved to throughout his life.”
“Terry served as my personal Bodyguard often on and off for all of those years. I told him when he first accepted that position with me that he could get hurt or maybe meet death. “Let me worry about that, it would just mean that I would meet Jesus before most of our membership.” I could only think of the scripture, “greater love has no person than to give their life for another”. He was much more than a bodyguard, he was one of my best friends.
He was also an LGBTQ activist. He served on the board of the Christopher Street West Parade for five years. He was also, the president of the Buddy Club, an organization in the leather community in Los Angeles. He was never afraid to be himself. He was a proud, Gay man.”
David Holt.and Terry were married Aug 15, 1979, sharing a long and devoted lite together. He is survived by his sister, Claudia, and was a beloved uncle to Gail, Bryan, Brenda, Johnny, and Jamie. Great uncle to Chrissy, Jimmy, Devin, Paige, Madison, Skylee, Tiffany, Blake and several great great nieces and nephews.
