Dear Friends in Faith,
February is Black History Month in Canada and the USA. Within the USA, this February 2026, marks the one hundredth year of celebrating Black History Month, a significant milestone that invites us to honor a century of remembrance, resilience, and ongoing witness. This observance was established to ensure that the history, faith, and contributions of Black communities are recognized as essential to our shared story, not only in the past but in the present and future.
Throughout history and continuing today, Black leaders in faith, justice, and community life have shaped movements rooted in courage, compassion, and hope. Their voices challenge the church to live more fully into God’s call for justice, spiritual diversity, and affirmation of all people.
As we recognize this centennial year, we are invited to reflect deeply, listen intentionally, and renew our commitment to learning and action. May this moment strengthen our resolve to walk together in love and to honor the sacred dignity present in every community.
